Section 5

Wylam to Thornley Woods

Begin by visiting Hagg Bank Bridge, an early example of a single span arch bridge.  The route now rises out of the Tyne Valley to Kyo from where, on days of good visibility, views of the Cheviot Hills can be seen.  The route continues through woods and farmland, eventually joining the Red Kite Trail with distant views of the memorial column at Gibside.

Route Updates. Direction 7: Cross the field diagonally to a gate at the corner of the plantation. Follow the path along the edge of the plantation.
